Diary Entry

On the drive through the Lesser Caucasus, we visit the cave city of Uplistsikhe, which is 4000 years old and was inhabited until a few centuries ago. Rooms and stairs were simply hammered into the sandstone.

Even a canopy was decoratively carved into the outer wall. Now only agamas live there that we only know from the terrestrial store.

We will also visit an old church from the 5th century, where the old frescoes have been restored. We drive a long time through the vineyards until we reach the sacred building.

Unfortunately, the construction work tarnishes the visual enjoyment, but we learn a lot about the frescoes from an art history student.
