An Exploration of wild East Africa (2024)
An exploration of wild East Africa
Africa is a big blank spot on the map of my travels. I have been to Morocco once, but what is it like south of the Sahel? I fear the masses of tourists who cause traffic jams in national parks when twenty Land Cruisers surround a lion so that people can take photos of the big cat. But maybe there is another way. And on your own, of course!
I get Uwe excited about the idea of ββtaking a trip to Africa together. And if it’s Africa, then it’s the clichΓ© – Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, animals, Maasai. So, East Africa. My family has spent a lot of time in this region in the past, so I’m particularly interested in getting to know this part of Africa.
It’s not just the savannah that I want to see. Knowing that our world is changing and, after the cancellation of Dust of the World, that we will probably be able to see many places, plants and animals before they become extinct, I want to see the rare mountain gorillas. They are only found in Rwanda, Uganda and the Congo, although the latter is a dangerous country at the moment.
Of course, couchsurfing is also a must. So we decide on a varied trip full of people, animals, nature and city, once around Lake Victoria. Our expectations are high, but they are exceeded by reality!
