Between the huge glacier and the open ocean there is a large glacial lake – the Jökulsárlón. Ice floes break off and collect there. These then drift comfortably into the sea through a narrow drain.

We can explore this lake on old amphibious vehicles, which the Americans originally used in Vietnam.

From between the floes, curious seals come out from the surface of the water and look behind us with their round eyes.
