Diary Entry
We leave Húsavík and come across an impressive waterfall, the Goðafoss. It is also particularly big, but meanwhile a certain pampering creeps into us. We have already seen so many fantastic waterfalls that this one, larger than the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen, is only worth a short stopover for us.
On the way we find settlements in which the houses have grass roofs in the traditional way and which are insulated with earth. Although it is only a museum, it becomes clear that today you should learn something from back then.
On the way we stop in Akureyri, the “capital of the north” and the second largest city in the country after Reykjavik – with just 19,000 inhabitants.
It’s strange to have a city around us again and we can’t stand it for long. We move on.
